This tool explands on the marquee tool and allows you to select an area, however this time you can craft the area you want to select.
To do this, first select the tool and click on a starting point, now click on a secondary point and you will notice the tool with create a line signifying the area you are trying to mark out.
Simply continue to click on points of your photo to select a desired area. you will notice that if you are working with curved objects you will need to click quite a few times to acheive a circular selection.
This method is very effective and quick to select nearly all areas you can encounter.
However, the accuracy of selection isn’t as good as using the pen tool which creates a scalable workpath for more advanced shape and selection work.
If you require a quick selection in your photo this is the recommended method and can become quite powerful when you get the hang of using it quickly.
This tool is selected by pressing L.
