Photoshop Month – The Rectangular Marquee Tool
Gemma on 08 10, 2009
To start the photoshop tool guide we will be covering the popular marquee tool.
The Marquee tool is access by pressing M if you are using Photoshops default key configuration.
Many of you will already have used this before in Photoshop without properly knowing it’s name and possibly taking it for granted.
It allows us to select a square area of your workspace and then to work with that area whether it is to cut that section out, to crop a part of an image for further work or to even manipulate that certain area of the photo, for example, someones eyes / face.
The common use is to select an area with the tool and then to simply either cut it out or crop it. Once an area has been selected you can apply any filter or transform the area in size to acheive any effect you like to the selected section of work only.
This is the part that not most know about and is very useful if you want to apply a filter which removes red eye for example to one eye only, or only 1 persons face.
